Max Dorsch: Real Estate Career, Family, and Life With Molly McGrath

Written byShahmeer Khan Hours September 28, 2026October 2, 2026

Max Dorsch is a real estate investment professional and the husband of ESPN reporter Molly McGrath. He works for Taurus Investment Holdings as an Acquisitions Director. His job centers on apartment deals. It also includes property research and investment work. He is not a TV figure. Still, his career has a clear public record.

People often search his name because of McGrath. Still, his own work adds much more. He studied finance and marketing at Syracuse University. Later, he worked in property lending. He also worked in apartment development. In 2018, he returned to Taurus and helped the firm grow in the western United States. His family later moved back to the Boston area.

Building a Career in Real Estate

Max Dorsch has spent much of his career in commercial real estate. Taurus Investment Holdings now lists him on its multifamily team in Boston. The firm also lists him as an Acquisitions Director.

His LinkedIn profile connects him to Taurus and Syracuse University’s Martin J. Whitman School of Management. It lists his time at Syracuse from 2006 to 2010.

Bisnow reported that he earned a degree in finance and marketing from Syracuse. Those subjects fit the work he later chose. Property deals need clear math. They also need market study and a good sense of risk.

His link to Taurus began before he held a senior role. Bisnow said he worked there as an intern in 2008 and 2009. He later left the firm and gained more experience. He came back in 2018.

Experience at Starwood and Resmark

Before returning to Taurus, Dorsch worked in other parts of the property business.

Bisnow reported that he worked at Starwood Property Trust in Miami. He served as an assistant vice president in loan underwriting. In that role, he worked on more than $1 billion in loan volume. He helped take those loans through closing.

Loan underwriting checks whether a deal is sound. It looks at property value, income, debt, and risk.

He later joined The Resmark Companies in Los Angeles. There, he worked on new apartment projects. His role included finding deals. He also studied joint investment plans.

That mix gave him skills on both sides of a deal. He learned how lenders see risk. He also learned how investors judge new projects.

Returning to Taurus

Max Dorsch returned to Taurus in 2018. Bisnow said he opened the firm’s first West Coast office. He also led work tied to apartment deals in the western United States.

Phoenix soon became an important market.

Connect CRE named him as one of its 2022 Next Generation Award winners for Phoenix and the Southwest. The trade outlet said he led Taurus’s first deal west of Colorado. It also said he helped the firm close six apartment properties in Phoenix. Together, those sites had about 1,000 units.

One of his own work posts later gave a higher total. It said the Phoenix deals had reached nearly 1,050 units.

His work also reached beyond Arizona. Connect CRE said he was helping Taurus grow in places such as Las Vegas and Denver.

In 2021, he spoke about a Taurus purchase in Phoenix. He pointed to Arizona State University as one reason for the area’s growth. He also cited job growth.

Recognition Inside the Industry

The 2022 Connect CRE Next Generation Award is one of the clearest public signs of Max Dorsch’s work in real estate.

Connect CRE said the awards honor rising professionals in business and leadership. Its profile focused on his role at Taurus. It noted his work in opening new markets.

Taurus also congratulated him in a public post.

The award also separates his professional record from the celebrity attention around his marriage. His work in lending, development, and property deals was already well established.

What He Does at Taurus Today

Taurus now lists Dorsch in Boston as part of its multifamily team.

His work still centers on buying and studying apartment investments. Public profiles say he helps find deals and review the numbers. He also judges risk and helps move deals toward closing.

In a later LinkedIn post, he wrote about a new Taurus partnership. The partner was Legal & General. He said the plan included up to $200 million in starting capital. The money was aimed at apartment purchases in target U.S. markets.

That shows how his role has grown. Earlier, he worked on single loans and projects. Today, he can work with larger pools of money across many markets.

For Max Dorsch, real estate is not a side business linked to a famous spouse. It has been the main line of his career for years.

Marriage to Molly McGrath

McGrath is a college football reporter for ESPN. The network says she joined ESPN in July 2016. She now works on Saturday college football games for ESPN and ABC.

Earlier, she worked with Fox Sports. She also worked for the Boston Celtics and in ESPN production.

The couple married in 2018.

Their jobs look very different. McGrath works in stadiums and on national TV. Her husband works in property investment. Most attention there stays inside the business world.

That difference is one reason the public knows more about her. It does not mean his career is less developed.

Family Life

Max Dorsch and McGrath have two children.

An older ESPN bio said McGrath lived in the Seattle area with her husband and son. By 2025, the Boston Globe reported that the couple had two children. It also said they had moved to Greater Boston.

The family shares some public moments, but not many. Their children stay mostly outside both parents’ public work.

The Spun reported a 2025 anniversary post from McGrath that marked seven years of marriage. It also cited an earlier message in which she referred to the home and two children they had built a life around.

Most other family details stay private.

The Move Back to Boston

A major recent change came in 2025.

The Boston Globe reported that the family had moved from the West Coast. Their new home area was Greater Boston. They were renting at the time while they closed on a house.

McGrath said the new home was on the same street where her husband grew up.

That detail adds context to his background. Boston is not just his current work base. It is also part of his personal history.

For Max Dorsch and McGrath, the move also made sense for both careers.

McGrath said the move put her closer to ESPN’s main base in Bristol, Connecticut. She said that could help her do more with the network. Taurus also lists Dorsch at its Boston office.

For a family with two busy careers, the move brought home and work closer together.

Two Careers With Heavy Travel

Their jobs are different, but both can require travel.

McGrath travels for college football and other sports work. Her husband can travel for property tours, meetings, and deal work.

That means family plans have to fit around two demanding schedules.

Public posts give only small views of that balance. The couple has not made its marriage a public brand. Most updates are tied to work, anniversaries, or family milestones.

That lower profile has helped keep much of their daily life outside the news.

Life Today

As of 2026, Max Dorsch works for Taurus Investment Holdings in Boston. The company still lists him on its multifamily team.

His career has followed a steady path. He started with early work at Taurus. Then he moved into loan and development roles. Later, he returned to the firm and helped it grow in western markets. He later moved back to the Boston area with his family.

He and McGrath are raising two children while both continue demanding careers.

His marriage explains why many people search his name. His real estate work explains who he is beyond that link.
