Evin Harrah Cosby: Fashion, Family, and Life Beyond the Headlines

Written byShahmeer Khan Hours September 25, 2026October 2, 2026

Evin Harrah Cosby is a fashion business owner and the youngest child of Bill and Camille Cosby. She chose retail rather than acting. Her best-known project was PB & Caviar, a New York shop that sold women’s clothes, kids’ wear, beauty items, and gifts. Years later, her name reached a much wider public when she spoke in support of her father during the long-running sexual-assault cases and legal disputes around him.

That family story can hide the work she did on her own. Long before the legal battles around Bill Cosby took over the news, she had opened a store, worked with fashion labels, and raised two children. In her own public words, she was a single mother with a career in fashion design. That record gives a fuller view of her life than the thin celebrity profiles that often repeat the same claims.

Fashion Became More Than an Interest

In 2008, Evin Harrah Cosby opened PB & Caviar in Tribeca, New York. Fashion Bomb visited the store soon after it opened and spoke with her.

She said she had always wanted a shop. She also liked choosing clothes for other people. Her parents, she said, pushed her to think like a business owner. That detail matters because it shows the store was not just a famous-name side project. She had a clear idea for it.

The name came from her life as a mother. She explained that her young daughter loved peanut butter and jelly. Adults, she joked, liked caviar. The name was meant to blend those two worlds. The shop could feel young and grown-up at the same time.

The first store sold clothes for women and children. Early coverage named labels such as Anna Sui, Tracy Reese, Diesel, Ben Sherman, and Melissa Odabash. The mix was broad, but the idea was simple. A mother could shop for herself and her child in one place.

PB & Caviar Grew Into a Second New York Shop

PB & Caviar did not stay in its first form.

Time Out New York later reported that Evin and co-owner Wai Chan opened a second spot on the Lower East Side. The new store was on Ludlow Street. It focused more on women’s clothes, shoes, and small style items.

The shift shows that the business changed with its market. A small shop has to do that. Owners have to watch what sells, choose stock, manage space, and give people a reason to come back.

The Lower East Side store received new clothes often. Time Out described it as a small shop with a clear look and a steady flow of fresh pieces. That was a different setting from a large chain store. The point was curation, not size.

Evin Harrah Cosby was also photographed at the store’s launch in 2008. Getty Images identified her as the owner of PB & Caviar. That public record matches the fashion press from the same period.

Time Out now marks PB & Caviar as closed. Still, the shop remains the strongest part of her work history because it left a clear trail in New York fashion coverage.

She Chose Retail Instead of Show Business

Evin grew up close to television and stage work, but she did not build a career as an actor.

Her father became one of the most famous television stars in the United States. Her mother, Camille, became known for work tied to education, the arts, and family projects. Their youngest daughter went in another direction.

Her world was clothes, stores, style, and small business.

That choice gave Evin Harrah Cosby a public role that did not depend on a television part. The shop had its own stock, staff, buyers, customers, and daily problems. It had to work as a real business.

There is no strong record of her trying to copy her father’s career. Her known work sits much closer to fashion and retail.

Motherhood Shaped the Store Idea

Her role as a mother was not separate from the store. It helped shape the idea.

In a 2017 statement published by ABC News, Evin said she had two children. She also described herself as a single mother who worked in fashion design.

That lines up with how PB & Caviar was built.

The early Tribeca shop sold items for women and kids. It also tried to make the space friendly for parents. The idea came from a real problem. Shopping with children can be hard, and many fashion stores are not made for it.

The store tried to join those parts of life instead of treating them as separate.

That gives Evin Harrah Cosby’s fashion work a more personal base. The shop was not only about trends. It was also about the way she lived.

Growing Up in the Cosby Family

Evin Harrah Cosby is the youngest of five children born to Bill and Camille Cosby.

In her 2017 statement, she wrote about a childhood shaped by her father’s work and the family’s effort to stay close. She recalled trips, time in Las Vegas, and a move to New York while his television career was busy.

Her memories focused less on fame than on family life. She wrote about being close to her parents and about meeting people from many walks of life.

The five Cosby children followed very different paths. Erika Cosby became a visual artist. Erinn Cosby also worked in art and photography. Their brother Ennis was a graduate student when he died in 1997. Their sister Ensa died in 2018.

Those losses became part of the family story in a very public way.

Ennis Cosby’s Death Left a Lasting Mark

Ennis Cosby was 27 when he was shot and killed in Los Angeles in January 1997.

He had stopped to change a flat tire near Interstate 405. Police said the shooting happened during an attempted robbery. A man was later convicted of murder and attempted robbery.

The killing drew national news coverage. It also left the family with a loss that Evin later said she still found hard to face.

In her 2017 statement, she called her brother’s murder a nightmare and wrote about the pain it had left behind.

Another blow came in 2018. Ensa Cosby died from kidney disease at age 44, according to Associated Press reporting.

When Evin Entered Her Father’s Legal Story

For most of her adult life, Evin Harrah Cosby drew far less news attention than her father. That changed as sexual-assault claims against Bill Cosby became a major legal story.

She spoke in his defense in 2014. She did so again in 2017 in the longer statement published by ABC News.

Her position was clear. She said she believed her father and rejected the claims made against him. She also wrote about the harm she felt the case and press coverage had caused her mother, siblings, and children.

Those words are part of her public record. They are her claims, not a court finding.

The later legal record is more complex. Bill Cosby was convicted in Pennsylvania in 2018 of sexually assaulting Andrea Constand. The Pennsylvania Supreme Court overturned that conviction in 2021 after finding that a prior prosecutor’s promise not to charge him had been violated. The ruling did not come from a new trial on the facts of the case.

Separate civil juries later reached findings against him. In 2022, a California jury found him liable for sexually abusing Judy Huth when she was a teenager. In 2026, another California civil jury found him liable for sexually assaulting Donna Motsinger and awarded damages. Cosby has denied sexual-misconduct claims and has challenged rulings against him.

For Evin, the key point is that she chose to speak at a time when the case had become a national debate. Her words tied her public identity more closely to the family fight than at any earlier point in her career.

Her Own Work Still Matters

The legal story around her father is large, but it should not erase Evin Harrah Cosby’s own work.

PB & Caviar was a real retail project. It had a Tribeca store, a later Lower East Side site, a named co-owner, fashion stock, press coverage, and launch events. That is a stronger record than many celebrity-family profiles give her credit for.

Her own 2017 statement also confirms two parts of her adult life that are often treated as side notes. She was raising two children, and she still described her work as a career in fashion design.

There is far less solid reporting on a new store or active fashion company under her name in 2026. Time Out lists PB & Caviar as closed. Recent major news coverage has focused more on the Cosby family than on a new retail venture.

The known facts are still enough to show a life with its own shape.

A Life Built Outside Her Father’s Career

Evin Harrah Cosby grew up in one of the most famous families in American television, but she did not make fame her main job.

She built a shop. She worked in fashion. She raised two children. She also lived through the murder of a brother, the death of a sister, and years of public pressure around her father.

Those parts of her life do not fit into one easy label.

Her family name explains why the public knows her. PB & Caviar shows what she tried to build for herself. Her later statements show how strongly family loyalty shaped the way she faced public crisis.

That mix makes her story more than a footnote to Bill Cosby’s career.
